Our opinion on MyBankai and its gameplay
Published and developed by GGCorp, MyBankai is an MMORPG accessible via web browser. It follows a free-to-play economic model. The game is based on the universe of Bleach, the famous manga by Tite Kubo. You play as a character who comes out of a 1,000 year coma. You will have to recover your memory as you progress.
The world of MyBankai features colourful 2.5D graphics. Very faithful to the manga from which it is taken, the game reveals rather successful animations, especially during the fights. Like MyNinja, another GGCorp game inspired by Naruto, the goal here is to build a team of several characters. Of course, you will be able to count on the help of the Bleach protagonists, almost all of whom are represented.
From the start, you can choose the type of fighter your hero will be. There are three distinct possibilities. The arrancar is a very powerful hand-to-hand fighter, who inflicts colossal damage. The quincy, on the other hand, excels in ranged attacks and can strike without exposing himself. The shinigami, finally, is a versatile warrior who can take on all roles without shining in any of them. In addition, it is possible to choose the gender (male or female) of your character.
Battles in MyBankai are turn-based. Each character is positioned at a rank (on the front line, at the back, etc.) to optimise their abilities. The goal is of course to counter your opponents’ strengths with deadly counters. After each battle, your characters gain experience to redistribute in statistics. You can also obtain better quality equipment.
The key points of MyBankai
The first point of MyBankai is obvious: it is dedicated to the big fans of Bleach. Indeed, if these fans will find what they are looking for, the others will find it difficult to appreciate the game, which does not show an ounce of originality. We find all the principles of the MMORPGs of the genre, without taking any risks. A software to be reserved for admirers of Tite Kubo’s work.
Then, let’s note that some recurring bugs are very disabling. In addition to the frequent display problems, some players admit to having difficulties against several bosses in the game. Not because they are too hard, but because a victory against them would result in a boss reset. So the feeling of progress can quickly be tainted by this.
Finally, and this is MyBankai‘s biggest flaw, its business model leaves something to be desired. Although GGCorp’s game is advertised as free to play, it is in fact a pay to win game. In fact, the players who put their hand in the wallet have too much of an advantage over the others. The experience gain is gigantic, and the strongest characters of the saga are unlocked 10 times faster. This is enough to put off the most patient users.

Resolutely created for Bleach fans, MyBankai should convince them. The graphics are well done, the animations are faithful, the wrapping has everything to please them. On the other hand, other gamers will probably pass by due to the frustrating pay-to-win model and the numerous bugs that spoil the game experience.
